One of the fun things about homeschooling is that we get to do fun projects for school using things around the house. The boys and I did this one a few years ago when we were learning about the water cycle and density. I thought I’d share it again now that the whole nation has time on there hands.

In each cup we had 2 TBS of water and then added the skittles in this way:
Cup 1 - 10 purple skittles.
Cup 2 - 8 green skittles.
Cup 3 - 6 yellow skittles.
Cup 4 - 4 orange skittles.
Cup 5 - 2 red skittles.

This is not an instant gratification project as it takes about 3 hours for the skittles to dissolve, but the anticipation was half the fun.

Once they dissolved we put the purple in an empty glass first then with a medicine dropper add each color after that, putting the denser colors in first so each color would sit on the other.

To my Happy One, Just days old! I have many thoughts running through my mind as I think over the last year.  I remembering wondering if the letter I wrote to you last year would be the only letter I ever wrote to you.  I wondered how long it would be until you held your own bottle...A lot has changed in this last year.  You no longer live in limbo, this year you officially became our son, with our last name.  Nothing has changed for you, as you've only known us as yours, but for me my heart is settled without fear of your future.  You are loved, and adored and one of my favorite people, even at two. You on your first birthday! Some mile stones: ~ You rolled over intentionally just after your first birthday. ~ At 13 months you learned to walk, skipping the crawling part.  Man of the Woods, You've grown four shoe sizes and at least that many inches since I last wrote to you. Your voice has deepened and you're about to spend the summer as a CIT at camp. While everybody has noticed your physical changes I'm most impressed with how your character has begun standing out.  A lot has happened this year. None of us thought we'd move the day after Christmas and if we did we all thought it would be just a town or two over, not three states away. You didn’t have much time to adjust to all the changes. In your chill Man of the Woods way you rolled with it and even conquered. You could have used this move to allow yourself to become bitter and resentful, but you didn’t. Instead you talked with us and listened. You saw that this was hard on all of us, you showed compassion and helped build us up as a family, understanding we were in this together.  You kept working towards your scouting goals despite the fact that we still haven’t found a troop here....
