 My Happy One,



Nine today! Half way to adulthood. You have grown by leaps and bounds this year. You are quickly becoming a pro at reading. You have a deep love of animals, and nature. Much to your chagrin you have surpassed my knowledge of cars, makes and models. I'm sorry I'm no longer a useful resource when we're driving through town. You give hugs freely. You pray often both in gratitude and earnestly going before the Creator with your requests. Your heart is tender and beautiful.


My prayer for you as you grow this year is that you would continue to turn to your Father in times of need. That you would seek out ways to love and serve other people in your life. Ultimately that you would love your neighbor as you love yourself. And that you would continue to know you are loved, my chocolate eyed boy. You are an answer to prayer. There are no words to describe how thankful I am to be your Mom.

 Man of the Woods, 18 years old. I remember the day you were born. I was exhausted after 29 hours of labor and you were the biggest baby on the floor at 8 lbs. 9 oz. You were born the night before mothers day. The Game Table

When we were first married we vowed to continue dating at least weekly, no matter what. We were in love, and it was easy... until we became parents! If it seemed difficult when our boys were young, we found the real challenge came when our oldest started school. Trying to get a date in after work and school, while also making sure our boys got supper and enough sleep, to say nothing of trying not to break the bank on a sitter and a date proved almost impossible. However, going without a date eventually led to us bickering with each other until someone would finally ask, “When was our last date?” Once, after a frustrating evening, we tried to remember what we enjoyed doing together before we became parents... and could we still do it now? Immediately we had our answer: board games. It’s how we passed time during our engagement, honeymoon, vacations, and pregnancies. At one point we even kept a game in the car for unexpected waiting. Change in seasons

Last night my Strong Man and I made our first decision about our teenager. Even though he’s still 18 months away from officially being one. There is a National Boy Scout event that only happens every four years. The next one is in 2021 and now is the time to apply. The commitment is big. He’ll have basically two troops his local one and then a troop that is formed just for this event. The scouts will have to raise approximately $2,000 each and will have to do some physical training in preparation. Just because he applies it doesn’t mean he’ll be accepted. It’ll happen in West Virginia and will be about two weeks time. Neither Strong Man or myself will be attending. I would love to go as a staff member, but my babe will be four and will be getting ready to go to pre-K. He needs to be with people that have had specilized training to help him learn academically. While we feel strongly about homeschooling the big ones I feel strongly that he needs to be in a school system. The idea...
