Five
To my Happy One,
This year is a big year for me, for all of us. It's a year of transition. We've moved three states away on the map, 10.5 hours by car. You had a blast at Kindergarten orientation with your Dad. I was stuck working. I think it's been a little strange for all of us as we adjust from me being the primary parent to your Dad being your person. Despite all the change you have grown! When we left the goal in speech was for you to start saying four words sentences, and now despite not being in school since we moved you tell whole stories. You have a million words. You love to be helpful. You smile with your whole face, and you are learning that your words can be used as weapons or to build people up. While you still don't control them, I see you working to build people up.
My favorite thing to watch grow in you is your relationship with Jesus. I love how you will randomly stop what you are doing and thank him for whatever brings you joy in that moment. I'm proud of you for asking him for help all on your own when you find yourself doing things that hurt others. Most recently you climbed into bed all by yourself and alone in your room you began to pray. I stood outside your door listening as you told God the things you were thankful for, the things you were sorry you did that hurt others, and asking him to help you change those. I'm amazed that you want to know Jesus, and talk with him so naturally. You push me to keep growing.
My prayer for you this year as we continue to transition into kindergarten and out of the preschool stage is that you would know you are loved unconditionally and that you would find home to be your safe haven. School is hard, it's your job now. As you come home each day I want you to find rest. I know it sounds kind of silly, but it really is my goal. I pray that you continue to pursue a relationship with God, because I know He will continue to pursue one with you. You see him differently than most I think. I'm truly in awe of how you talk with him.
